The Japanese-style room was super cozy, making it a perfect retreat after exploring nearby shrines. I loved the lovely garden area and the onsen experience was fantastic. Plus, the staff really went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.
However, the common library spaces were quite chilly, which was a shame since they looked inviting. A little more attention to warming those areas would really enhance the ambiance.

The private onsen under the autumn trees was pure bliss! Dinner felt like a never-ending feast, perfect after a long day of travel. And yes, lounging in our yukatas made it all so delightfully cozy.
Honestly, the carpet looked like it survived a pillow fight. Oh, and here's a tip, learn to set your own alarm, or the staff will sneak in like ninjas to prep for dinner!

Couldn't recommend more for a short-term stay
Sophisticated room, serene atmosphere, the large space allowed us to unwind comfortably after a day of exploration, and the free shuttle service made getting around the area so much easier.
Everything met my expectations.

We had an amazing time enjoying the huge keiseki dinner and the lovely open-air hot spring bath, which was perfect for relaxing after our adventures. The private garden area and soothing jacuzzi really helped us unwind even more during our stay. The only small downside was the slightly remote location, so just plan your transport well to avoid any hiccups!

I loved the private onsen experience at Ryokan Sumiya Kihoan. The outdoor onsen felt like it was just for us, offering a comforting and intimate atmosphere. The futon was notably comfortable, making for a cozy night’s sleep. I enjoyed the shampoo. it had a lovely scent that made the bathing experience delightful. One downside was the cost. I accidentally booked for one person instead of three, which led to paying extra fees that made things feel a bit pricey. The dinner was another letdown, priced at 50,000 yen per person for a small, underwhelming meal. Afterward, I found better dining options outside. Although waiting for our rooms to be ready was pleasant, I walked away with the feeling that there are more affordable ryokans with a better overall experience.
